Meet the board

After our recent keenly-contested elections, we are pleased to announce a new-look board who bring a broad range of experience and knowledge from across the logistics and transport profession. 

Martin Evans FCILT

Martin Evans is a Visiting Fellow at the University of South Wales. He has undertaken applied research and consultancy for Welsh Government and for airports whilst with the university. He was lead author for the Western Gateway submission to the UK Government's Airports Commission and is an advisor to the Welsh Government on Public Service Obligation air routes. He has held numerous positions within the Institute. As well as being a board member and trustee, he is also Chairman of the Awards and Remuneration Committee, a member of the Public Policies Committee and a member of the Aviation Policy Group Committee. He appears regularly on BBC radio and Wales television. He also writes for the Western Mail.

 

Margaret Everson MBE FCILT

Margaret Everson is Director for Wales, Bus Users Cymru, the Welsh Government-funded bus passenger representation body that deals with strategy and policy matters, as well as bus punctuality and reliability. She is responsible overall for the effective operation and the direction of Bus Users Cymru, as well involvement with policymaking within Bus Users UK Ltd nationally. She holds a CPC in National and International PSV operations and is Director, PTI Cymru Holdings Ltd (Traveline Cymru). She is the major event co-ordinator for CILT Cymru Wales, having previously been its Chairman, then national committee secretary and National Officer for Wales.

 

Helen Gallimore FCILT

Helen Gallimore graduated from the University of Huddersfield in 1993, with a degree in Transport & Distribution. Her career has spanned operational management roles in 3PL organisations: designing, implementing and managing large distribution centres; consultancy; business improvement; industry benchmarking; and education and research. As well as running her own business, she is also Associate Lecturer, University of Derby. She has been an active member of CILT for almost 25 years, and volunteers for the Annual Logistics Conference working party and the East Midlands Committee. She is currently working on a project that will see logistics form part of the National Curriculum geography syllabus.

 

David Grahamslaw FCILT

David Grahamslaw has worked in logistics for over 35 years in operational, commercial and consulting roles. He started his career with Unilever (SPD Group), and subsequently held senior positions with Geest & TNT Logistics, and business development director roles with Tibbett & Britten and DHL. He now runs his own logistics consultancy business, Logiflex, and is also Senior Partner, SCALA Consulting. He has been a member of the Institute since 1987 and was first elected to the board in 2009. He has been active on the West Midlands committee for over 18 years and is now its Vice-Chairman and a former Chairman of the Birmingham & Coventry Group. He is also a member of the Aspire Fundraising Committee, the Outsourcing & Procurement Forum Committee, and since 2009 has been a member of the group that helps to organise the Institute’s Annual Conference.
 

Jane Green FCILT

Jane Green has made her career within logistics and supply chain, with a background that covers manufacturing, retail and third-party operations in a variety of roles. She is an experienced independent consultant, using data analysis and operational review to help companies improve their current supply chains and make realistic plans for the future. She has been a trustee and main board director for CILT for four years and is currently working with Women in Logistics UK to develop a calendar of events.

 

 

Chris Hutchinson FCILT

Chris Hutchinson is the son of London coach operator. After a long career in accountancy, he established his own logistics company in Sussex in 1995. Outside of this, he volunteers for events such as the London Olympics and other charity and sporting moments, and supports a hospital for the paralysed in Bangladesh.

  

 

 

Alan B Jones FCILT

Alan Jones has spent most of his working life in the transport sector, holding senior management positions ranging from road transport, parcels and containerised shipping to bus and coach operation. He began as an engineer in the bus and coach industry, becoming the chief engineer of the then largest division of the National Bus Company. He moved into the wider transport sector and managed substantial businesses, as well as owning a shipping business and latterly a parcels business. He has spent two years as a CILT board member and trustee and sits on the committee of Aspire, the CILT Careers Foundation.

 

Nick Richardson FCILT

Nick Richardson FCILT represents transport planning interests on the board and is Chair, PTRC Education and Research Services. He is a Technical Director, Integrated Transport Division, Mott MacDonald, with extensive experience in transport planning in local authority and consultancy roles. He advises on transport strategies and initiatives and also passenger transport projects, including bus, bus rapid transit and light rail. He is a former Chair, Transport Planning Society, has held a PCV licence for 28 years and is a fortnightly columnist in Passenger Transport.

 

Richard Wilding OBE FCILT

Richard Wilding is Full Professor and Chair in Supply Chain Strategy, Centre for Logistics and Supply Chain Management, Cranfield School of Management. He works with European and international companies on logistics and supply chain projects in all sectors, including pharmaceutical, retail, automotive, high technology, food drink and professional services. He is a champion for encouraging evidence-based decision-making within logistics and is an advocate for ensuring knowledge can create action and impact within the organisations he works with. He was winner of the Individual Contribution Award at the European Supply Chain Excellence Awards 2010, and at the European Supply Chain Distinction Awards 2008 he received the Distinguished Service Award for Thought Leadership and Service to Supply Chain Management. In 2014 and 2015 he was rated as the No 1 Supply Chain.
