Ian Walters – Managing Director and Founder of SLC Rail Ian is the founder and co-owner, and Managing Director, of SLC Rail with over 25 years’ experience in the rail industry. He is a hands-on leader and is closely involved with clients and their schemes. After qualifying as an accountant, Ian worked at Red Star Parcels, Marconi, P&O and Spar before moving to Chiltern Railways and obtaining his first director position. He then went on to work for City Greenwich Lewisham Rail Link PLC and John Laing Projects and Developments Limited, where he gained further experience structuring innovative third-party delivered railway projects from both within the industry and alongside it. By challenging standard funding models, developing bespoke commercial structures and giving investors reassurance about risk, Ian has been instrumental in delivering more than 20 new railway stations and infrastructure schemes starting with Warwick Parkway, the first new station to be built since privatisation. Ian started SLC Rail in 2009 and the business has led on over 60 station projects, which is helping to make a difference to so many communities across the UK.
