Thames Valley Group - Forthcoming Events

November 2024
Transforming traditional project logistics for green energy and sustainable-focused construction projects. - Physical AttendanceBOOK NOW
13/11/2024 18:00:00 - 13/11/2024 20:00:00

When: 13 November 2024, 18:30 - 20:00
Where: The Greyfriars Centre, Friar Street, Reading, Berkshire, RG1 1EH
Speaker: Scott Rogers, Veteran & Ex Senior Logistics Manager at Worley

The Thames Valley Group are delighted to have secured a presentation from Scott Rogers an RAF veteran, who until May 2024 was Senior Logistics Manager at a global professional services company of energy, chemicals and resources experts headquartered in Australia.

As a Logistics Subject Matter Expert, Scott led the design, development and delivery of the logistics solutions for green energy and sustainability-related construction projects in the UK and Europe. This ranged from initial bid development and concept definition through to detailed engineering design and construction execution.

Notable highlights included implementing a new approach to project logistics through an organic 4PL model. Hear how fresh strategy and execution plans were developed for all project logistics services and cargo, from first to final mile delivery, including interface management and customs clearance requirements. Understand how an operating framework including budgets, safety, quality and risk management, plus revised operating processes and procedures was built, leading to tenders with selected global 3PLs and freight forwarders for £50M+ of logistics services, and subsequent ownership of operational and contractual management.

See how close collaboration with global colleagues within Supply Chain, Engineering, Construction and project controls was essential so that Logistics informed, influenced and shaped project design and execution. Get an appreciation of how external bodies including 3PLs, heavy lift providers, suppliers, subcontractors, and government agencies, both national and international also need to be included.

Scott’s vast experience that made him the right person for this enormous challenge includes conceptual work leading the RAF’s Logistics capability development, operational delivery as Head of the Air Transport Operations Centre in Afghanistan for over a year, as well as commercial leadership roles in areas as diverse as Amazon Operations, operations management in the luxury retail sector and Sotheby’s (the fine art auction house) end-to-end logistics service delivery including inbound logistics, customs clearance, inventory management, travelling exhibitions, and order fulfilment (including export licensing). We will see how all of these contributed to his most recent successes in the sustainability sector.

As usual with Thames Valley Group events, afterwards attendees are warmly invited to continue the evening with informal discussion and networking at the pub opposite the venue.
