Logistics Workers, Labour Shortages, and Automation in a Post Brexit WorldBOOK NOW
17/04/2018 10:30:00 - 17/04/2018 15:00:00
When: Tuesday 17th April 2018, 10:00 (for 10:30) - 15:00
Where: Jaguar Land Rover Experience Solihull, Block 66, Lode Lane, Solihull, West Midlands, B92 8NW

Theme: Is automation a solution to post-Brexit Britain’s most pressing supply chain challenges?

No matter where you stand on Brexit, it’s likely to have a big impact on UK supply chains, adding to the challenges that logistics service providers and cargo owners are already faced with: from driver shortages and congestion, to rising costs and changes in consumer demand.

Join CILT and its members at the Jaguar Land Rover Experience Centre for a roundtable discussion, sponsored by DP World London Gateway and chaired by CILT’s Kevin Richardson. Discuss the challenges facing the logistics and transportation industry; the challenges of now and the potential challenges of the future – some of which may be exacerbated by Brexit. Are there solutions? Should providers collaborate more? Could the introduction of more automation be one potential solution? Are there solutions which remove the need for so many drivers and trucks?

The event will be chaired by Kevin Richardson, CEO of CILT who joined the Institute from XPO Logistics, formerly Norbert Dentressangle, where he held the role of European Development Director for four years. Prior to that Kevin spent 20 years at TDG Plc progressing from Implementation Director to Strategic Development Director.

An experienced senior logistics executive with over 35 years’ experience in the sector, Kevin has extensive knowledge in operational and project management across Europe and has been a member of the Institute for 28 years.

Digitalisation and Collaboration is more prevalent, especially in Supply Chain Management, than anywhere else. With globalisation, mergers and aquisitions, 4PL contracts, outsourced suppliers, understandably the strain on communications and IT is immense. This event is aimed at supply chain-logistic managers, directors and interested parties who have great systems, but still work with spreadsheets, phone calls and emails as cross border transactions become more complex. Also of course, interested parties who want to understand how Digitalisation and Collaboration has impacted supply chains. Register now if you wish to attend and hear first hand from various experts who have embraced and delivered differing solutions and practices in the digital world. See the review from last years event.

"This is one of the best one day conferences I have filmed at in a long while. Speakers were excellent. Q/A was so healthy and focussed that it caused the event to overrun. If you missed it then don't make the same mistake when they run the next one."
