When: 03 March 2021, 17:00 - 18:30Where: Zoom WebinarSpeaker: Martin Tedder, Programme Director – Abbey Wood-Ebbsfleet Connectivity project
In 2018 the Thames Estuary Growth Commission, led by Sir John Armitt, identified that the Estuary could deliver a million new homes and 1.3 million new jobs by 2050, making this one of the largest opportunities for growth anywhere in the UK. The area between Abbey Wood, where the current Crossrail line is due to terminate, and Ebbsfleet, as an international gateway, has both the ambition and the opportunity to help deliver the Government’s vision for the Estuary. But the Growth Commission was clear that the area’s full potential would only be realised by investing in the quality of its transport networks including, potentially, an extension to Crossrail. In response, Government have funded a landmark study to identify what transport improvements are needed and how these can help deliver new homes and jobs.
