Speakers: Andrew Davies and Steve Hewitt, Directors, Steer Consultants

The COVID-19 pandemic has had an unprecedented impact on global society and economy and transportation and the use of infrastructure. The purpose of this presentation is to share with you some of the thinking, and work, that Steer has undertaken across the company in the different regions and geographies in which they operate to understand the impacts of the pandemic on travel behaviour, mobility and consequently on transport demand, patterns and operations.  It is recognised that the impacts of the pandemic will be different across different countries and markets for transport and manifest themselves at different times and potentially in different ways but there are some important impacts and trends that appear to be relevant to many major cities in the West and we will use this presentation to share our thoughts with you.

The Abbey Wood to Ebbsfleet Connectivity Study – How Should we Invest in Transport to Deliver the Government’s Vision for the Thames Estuary?BOOK NOW
03/03/2021 17:00:00 - 03/03/2021 18:30:00

When: 03 March 2021, 17:00 - 18:30
Where: Zoom Webinar
Speaker: Martin Tedder, Programme Director – Abbey Wood-Ebbsfleet Connectivity project

In 2018 the Thames Estuary Growth Commission, led by Sir John Armitt, identified that the Estuary could deliver a million new homes and 1.3 million new jobs by 2050, making this one of the largest opportunities for growth anywhere in the UK. The area between Abbey Wood, where the current Crossrail line is due to terminate, and Ebbsfleet, as an international gateway, has both the ambition and the opportunity to help deliver the Government’s vision for the Estuary. But the Growth Commission was clear that the area’s full potential would only be realised by investing in the quality of its transport networks including, potentially, an extension to Crossrail. In response, Government have funded a landmark study to identify what transport improvements are needed and how these can help deliver new homes and jobs.
