Mobile Network data and AI Vision Analytics are two of the newer data sources to the strategic planning and operational aspects of transportation projects. They have varied benefits over existing traditional data collection sources due to their sample sizes, geographic extent, consistency, and the ability to request data in real-time or over defined time periods. Transport operators and public sector organisations are using a variety of mobile network and big data sources to improve their operational decision-making and provide a richer evidence-base for their strategic decision-making.
This course provides an introduction into how these, and other new and emerging datasets are collected, analysed, and used in the transportation industry. Alongside this, the course will provide a summary of use cases and highlight the benefits and limitations of each data source.
This course has been developed for transport professionals involved in strategic planning, incident management & planning and operational planning wishing to develop their knowledge and proficiency, ranging from private sector and public sector organisations.

Many professionals lack confidence in their report-writing skills, and feel that their credibility suffers because their written reports are not a fair reflection of their expertise. Anyone involved in technical work will quickly discover the challenges presented when trying to communicate their ideas, information, proposals or recommendations to colleagues and clients. All too often, the impact of many hours of work can hinge on the ability to explain the results effectively to others. This programme is suitable for transportation practitioners at all levels wishing to improve their technical writing skills; it is also particularly useful for those new to technical report writing in a business and consultancy context.Programme and Booking FormFor full programme details, please email info@ptrc-training.co.uk

This course is split over two days. On the first day delegates will examine ‘human factors’ associated with road safety and will particularly focus on the implementation of the ‘safe systems’ approach to casualty reduction and its relevance in road safety audit and applied engineering practice, as one way of ensuring that safety is given sufficient consideration in the design process.
Day two covers international road safety engineering and audit process, with a focus on the World Health Organisation (WHO) International Decade of Action and it compares and contrasts typical UK practices and conditions with those likely to be encountered internationally.

This one-day course will highlight common mistakes that can occur during the planning and design of bus interchanges and infrastructure. Exploring issues that may at first appear minor, but if not identified and addressed early can result in challenging and costly remedial work during the construction and post opening phases of the project. Many of these design issues occur because the designers or those approving the design may lack the specialist knowledge of bus interchange requirements, vehicle manoeuvrability and transport operations.Taught through practical examples and case studies, the course will provide an introduction to the topic, allowing potential issues to be recognised and removed at the design stage enabling costly and time consuming issues to be avoided.
