The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) has revealed its list of Top 30 UK Logistics Service Providers for 2019.
The CILT Top 30 has been put together to guide your selection of logistics partners within the UK. The list recognises those organisations who best exemplify excellence and has been formed by assessing a range of key criteria, such as; financials, performance, professional accreditation, the gender pay gap and human resource factors that have been made available through the MINT UK database, annual reports and the European Commission.
The results have been revealed in the April edition of the Institute’s membership magazine, Focus.
In 2018, CILT released its inaugural Top 30. This year, there are seven new entries, a change at the top and multiple big movers.
Innovative parcel delivery company, DPD Group (DPD) topped the list. Dwain McDonald, Chief Executive, DPD UK, said: “To be the best at anything is a huge achievement, but this is a tough, tough sector to operate in. It is unrelenting in terms of the challenges that can be thrown at you on a weekly basis. You have to be at the top of your game every single day, and that’s the level we have been pushing for the last 10 years, so being recognised by people who understand the market we operate in means a lot.”
CILT Corporate Members DHL Supply Chain, Wincanton and Kuehne + Nagel featured in the Top 5. Organisations such as Bibby Distribution, Clipper Logistics, Eddie Stobart and XPO Supply Chain, were also recognised within the Top 30.
Kevin Richardson FCILT, Chief Executive, CILT(UK), said: “Last year’s list saw the Institute take its first steps into analysing the performance of the operators it represents. Now in its second year, I am pleased to announce that this list looks likely to become a staple of CILT’s suite of materials that recognise industry achievements and best promote the vital role of our sectors. We are delighted to see that more than 33% of those on this list are Corporate Members or associated with CILT and we hope to see this number increase in next year’s list.”
Clyde Buntrock, Chief Executive, Allport Cargo Services, said: “We are delighted to be named in the Top 30. We believe that this is a reflection on our outstanding colleagues and our hard work to make our customers’ lives simpler.”
Adrian Colman, CEO, Wincanton, said: “Being recognised by CILT as a Top 30 UK logistics provider is a real honour. It is a great reflection of the work our people do every day. Without dedication and commitment from everyone within the business, we would not be able to deliver the levels of service we do.”
Martijn de Lange, CEO, Hermes UK, said: “It means a great deal to everybody at Hermes to be named in the CILT’s Top 30 once again. This fantastic accomplishment highlights what a brilliant job our Parcel People are doing across all areas of the business.”
Tony Mannix, CEO, Clipper Logistics, said: “We are delighted to be recognised as one of the UK’s leading logistics service providers. We are immensely proud of how far the business has come and being acknowledged amongst our peers is testament to our hard work, expertise and the reputation that we have forged within the industry.”
Dave Pickering, COO of Transport Operations, Eddie Stobart, said: “It is a great accolade to be recognised in CILT’s Top 30 and we feel it is reflective of the performance of our business over the past 12 months. The nomination reinforces the significant step the company has taken towards becoming a full end-to-end logistics and supply chain business.”
