CILT(UK) unveils awards for best papers at Logistics Research Network 2025

The Chartered institute of Logistics and Transport UK (CILT UK) has granted five academic awards following its recent three-day Logistics Research Network (LRN) event at the University of Sheffield from 3 to 5 September.  

The event showcased leading-edge research in all areas of innovation and sustainability in logistics, transport and supply chain management.

It included keynote presentations by industry experts, interactive panel discussions, and the opportunity to network with peers to explore the latest advancements and real-world applications across the sector.

The Institute is pleased to announce the following winners of its LRN awards for 2025:  

Best Paper for Research Excellence 

Title: Mapping future charging infrastructure to support transition to electric Heavy Goods Vehicles in Scotland

Names:  Dhanan Sarwo Utomo, Alan Logan, Siti Fariya, Guy Walker, Philip Greening, Adam Gripton, Tushara Kodikara and Zoe O’Connor (Heriot Watt University)

Best Paper for Impact Excellence 

Title: Bridging Maritime and Hinterland Logistics: The Role of Digital Technologies

Names: Emmelie Gustafsson, Per Wide, Zeeshan Raza, Patrik Jonsson, Jan Holmström

Best Poster Presentation in memory of Professor David Grant 

Title: International Aid and Development Performance Measurement & Management

Names: Alan Braithwaite and Amelia Sandford

Best MSc dissertation of the Year Award

Title: Understanding Barriers and Unlocking Benefits: Exploring the Adoption of Green Supply Chain Management Practices in the Pharmaceutical Industry.

Name: Gavin Dalton, who was unable to attend the event and therefore accepted on his behalf by John Crowe, PhD, and Dr Chao Ji-Hyland.

PHD Thesis of the year – The James Cooper Cup Award

Title: Assimilation and Impact of Automation Technologies in Warehouse Operations

Name: Ayse Begum Kilic Ararat
