25 May 2013/Categories: World Press

The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) a global professional body associated with the logistics and transport industry will hold the global convention and AGM from June 2-7 in Colombo.

"CILT set up in UK in 1919, received the Royal Charter in 1926. It stays consistent with current logistics and transport issues. The Institute promotes and encourages the art and science of logistics and transport through its membership and its educational programs," a spokesman for the institute said.

With a global membership of over 33,000 working in over 100 countries, CILT provides a professional identity to those working in the expanding logistics and transport sector. It is a professional association that speaks with authority on strategic issues affecting businesses and people in the industry and supports their careers.

The CILT Annual Convention and Conference, generally alternated between the UK and a different territory or branch each year.

"It is recognised worldwide as the show-case event of the CILT international calendar," he said.

The Annual International Conference hosted by CILT Sri Lanka, in collaboration with the CILT Convention, will be held on June 5, at the Kingsbury, on the theme 'Future of Logistics and Transport from a Global Perspective.'
