You don’t need to be a member of the Institute to benefit from our training, although members have preferential rates on public courses, as well as access to a range of additional member benefits.
If you are not already a member, you might like to consider becoming an Affiliate member to take advantage of the reduced public course fees and a range of other membership benefits designed to keep you up to date with the latest news, information and legislation, saving you time and money and supporting your career development.
There are no entry requirements for CILT training, but we would recommend that delegates are working in the sector, or have an awareness of the topics covered in the course. It is important to look at the target audience section to make sure the course is the right one for you.
Your tutor will be a professional practitioner or a trainer with relevant sector experience.
The courses are designed to be interactive, with input from experienced tutor-practitioners and a range of activities and exercises to allow participants to experiment in the use of new ideas in a safe learning environment.
When you register for the course you will receive details about any necessary preparation and any pre-reading.
Further reading is available to Members through The Knowledge Centre.
Courses will usually begin at 09.00 or 09.30 with refreshments available on arrival, at morning and afternoon breaks and a buffet lunch will also be provided. The regular breaks during the day provide an opportunity to network with other delegates and your course tutor.
Our short courses are currently all classroom based however, you can study CILT(UK) qualifications through our Distance Learning Centre. For more details see the Qualifications page.
Yes. The Institute’s short courses contribute to CPD.
Yes, attendance certificates will be issued to delegates at the end of the classroom-based courses. If your course has a compliance requirement you will receive a certificate upon successful completion.
CILT(UK) will only run courses if enough people register to cover costs. CILT(UK) will contact you to confirm the course is running in due course and advise participants not to book accommodation (unless there is free cancellation) until this point.
We usually work with groups of up to 12 delegates.
CILT use a range of training venues, including our offices in Corby and London and other locations around the UK. Make sure you know where your course is being held when you register your interest.
Prior to the course you will receive a location map and directions to the venue for travel by car or public transport.
The course fee does not include overnight accommodation. However we have secured excellent rates for our course delegates at a number of local hotels and information will be included with your booking confirmation.
We want participants to be comfortable, so please wear smart, casual clothing.
All of our short courses can be offered "in-company" at an organisations premises or a venue of an organisation's choosing. This is a more cost effective option of delivery for companies who have a larger cohort of participants rather than sending individuals onto public courses. This also offers companies the opportunity of bespoke development. Please contact CILT(UK) directly to discuss how we can work with your organisation: E: pd@ciltuk.org.uk or T: 01536 740 166. We will then be able to offer a quote for delivery after these discussions.
