Thinking of a career in logistics and transport?

The CILT(UK) Level 1 Award has been designed specifically for school students and provides an entry-level introduction to the sector. It allows students to gain an understanding of the basic functions and operations in logistics and transport, along with key knowledge and skills in order to progress to the next level.

New to the sector?

The CILT(UK) Level 2 Certificate provides an introduction to logistics and transport, allowing individuals to specialise with a choice of optional units such as ‘Introduction to Planning and

Operating Freight Transport’. It is designed to allow the acquisition of a good knowledge base upon which to build, as well as an introduction to the skills required for a career in the sector.

The Level 3 Certificate follows on from this, developing and expanding core knowledge and offering an introduction to management.

Looking to progress in your career?

The CILT(UK) Level 5 Professional Diploma and the Level 6 Advanced Diploma are designed for more experienced practitioners and managers.

Progression can be made from level 5 and level 6 to the distance-learning MSc in International Logistics and Supply Chain Management programme offered in conjunction with the University of South Wales.

How long will each qualification take to complete?

There are recommended guided learning hours (GLH) for each level and your distance learning advisor will guide you on how much time on average you will need to set aside for individual study each week.  In addition, it is important to note that there are time limits set by the Awarding Organisation within which the qualifications need to be completed. On a more personal level, having a qualification can lead to increased confidence and efficiency in day-to-day activities as the skills learned are incorporated and applied to the workplace environment.

All CILT(UK) qualifications include ‘learner membership’ of the Institute, which gives you access to a range of exclusive benefits to support your studies and career. Visit our website for further details on member benefits.

How can CILT qualifications benefit organisations?

CILT(UK) qualifications provide a benchmark against which all employees can be measured. They provide reassurance to employers that members of staff have a certain level of knowledge, which can consequently create a positive image of a company committed to the development of its employees.
