CILT (UK) Designing Better Transport Services: Delivering Sustainable, Inclusive and Tech-Enabled Mobility

Speaker:

  • Emmanuel Mogaji, PhD, Associate Professor in Marketing, Keele Business School

The webinar will explore:

Transport is more than moving people from A to B; it is a service that shapes how individuals access work, education, healthcare, and everyday opportunities. This session takes a practical, industry-focused look at how transport services can be designed to deliver better outcomes for customers, communities, and organisations.

Rather than focusing only on infrastructure, the session highlights how service design, operational delivery, and customer experience come together to define the quality of transport. It explores what “good” looks like in today’s context: reliable and responsive services, clear communication, accessible journeys, and consistent user experience across touchpoints.

The discussion will focus on three key priorities for modern transport systems. First, sustainability—how operators and planners can embed low-carbon thinking into everyday service delivery. Second, inclusivity—ensuring services are accessible and usable for all, including people with disabilities and underserved groups. Third, technology—leveraging digital tools, data, and platforms to improve coordination, efficiency, and customer engagement.

Through practical insights and real-world examples, the session will offer a fresh perspective on how transport services can be designed not just to function, but to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives.
