Excellence in Operations
Operational Excellence in Logistics & Transport
Recognises organisations that demonstrate outstanding performance, efficiency, and innovation across day-to-day logistics, warehousing, transport operations, and transport planning, delivering measurable improvements in reliability, service quality, and overall value. This award celebrates operational excellence achieved through effective planning, execution, and continuous improvement across the end-to-end supply chain.
Judging criteria:
Judges will assess submissions against the following:
On-time delivery, warehouse throughput, and service reliability metrics
(including order accuracy, pick/pack performance, and transport schedule adherence)
Cost efficiency and resource optimisation
(effective use of labour, fleet, space, inventory, and planning capability)
Transport planning and warehouse planning effectiveness
(route optimisation, load planning, demand forecasting, capacity planning, and coordination between warehouse and transport operations)
Continuous improvement culture and KPIs achieved
(use of performance data, process optimisation, and measurable improvement over time)
Operational resilience and risk management
(ability to manage disruptions, demand variability, labour constraints, and peak periods)
Customer satisfaction and quality performance
(service levels, accuracy, responsiveness, and customer feedback)

The award targets industry-focused research projects co-developed and co-delivered through partnerships between industry-based organisations and academic institutions.
Judging criteria:
the project has been co-developed and co-delivered by an industry partner and academic institution(s).
the project addressed a timely topic and real-world challenges of significant relevance for the advancement of
knowledge and business and/or technological innovation in logistics, freight transport, operations and supply
chain management.
the project generated tangible and substantial impact, e.g., solutions, tools, technologies, managerial frameworks,
methods, recommendations, among other outputs.
the project has shown that it can deliver improvements to an industry sector and key stakeholders, e.g., cost
reduction, revenue and/or improved sustainable performance.
the project demonstrated excellence in the co-creation of state-of-the-art knowledge and industry application of
