This talk introduces the National Railway Heritage Awards and how they promote the restoration and sensitive reuse of historic railway and tramway buildings and structures. It explains the aims of the awards, the different prize categories and recent winning projects, showing how good conservation can protect heritage while keeping stations, viaducts and other assets functional for today’s railway.
