The Department for Transport (DfT) has launched a £30 million Charging Scheme this month to help support the uptake of electric commercial vehicles (vans and HGVs) and coaches.

Under the scheme, fleet operators can claim up to 75% of charger and installation costs, with up to £1 million available per business across all their sites.

The DfT believes the scheme will help establish more charging infrastructure at depots, supporting Britain's transition to zero-emission logistics and coach travel.

The scheme was officially opened to applications on 16 July and will close either when funding has been spent or by 28 November 2025 (whichever is sooner).

Works must be completed by 31 March 2026.
