The Royal Logistic Corps Institution (RLCi) and The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport in the UK (CILT(UK)) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) which strengthens the relationship between the two organisations - reinforcing our shared commitment to professional development across the logistics, transport and supply chain sectors.
The signing took place at Worthy Down, Winchester, with the agreement signed by Colonel Jax Powell, Corps Colonel of the Royal Logistic Corps, and Helen Hardy, CEO of CILT (UK).
The partnership will enable increased collaboration - providing a vital link for RLCi members to the wider supply chain, logistics and transport profession. The agreement also aims to support professionalisation, accreditation and career transition opportunities for serving personnel and veterans alike.
Helen Hardy explained:
“Given the scale and importance of the RLCi and the clear alignment with our strategic purpose, I am delighted to sign this Memorandum of Understanding. Our ambition is to move beyond informal collaboration and establish something enduring - a partnership that aligns professional standards, strengthens development pathways, and gives our defence logisticians a strong and recognised identity within the wider logistics profession.
“I am grateful to all those involved, and particularly to Paul Salmon, Chair of the Membership Representatives Group of the CILT(UK) and Angus Fay, Chairman of the RLCi, whose leadership and vision were instrumental in bringing our organisations together and shaping the direction that has led to this moment.”
One of the key objectives of The Royal Logistic Corps key is to strengthen engagement with industry, academia, chartered institutes and professional bodies to ensure common standards are recognised both during and after military service.
Paul Salmon said: “This Memorandum of Understanding marks a huge step forward in supporting the relationship between the Royal Logistic Corps Institution and CILT(UK). By working together, we are creating better opportunities to engage with the logistics, transport and supply chain profession, supporting both professional development and long-term career pathways.”
The MOU reflects both organisations’ commitment to collaboration, professional standards and supporting the future workforce of the logistics and transport sector.
Shaun Fardy, added: “As an ex-serviceman myself, I was thrilled to work with Paul Salmon and the RLC/RLCI in the creation of this partnership. As Director of Professional Development and Standards at CILT(UK), I understand the importance of maintaining a continuous link to the wider supply chain, logistics and transport ecosystem whilst serving, helping individuals stay relevant and supporting a smooth transition after service, regardless of when in a soldier or officer’s career that may be.
Alongside Paul Salmon, WO1 Rob Collins, WO2 Dan Maxwell and Alan Woods were also at the signing.
