The following message was written by Katie Frost, Chief Executive Officer Metroline
After an outstanding 40-year career in the bus industry, Steve Harris has decided to step down from his role as Chief Operating Officer at Metroline. This will allow him to spend more time with his family, pursue his hobbies and prepare for his retirement.
Over the next two months Steve will work with the business to ensure there is a suitable handover to colleagues and ensure a smooth transition, with his final day being 31 October.
Steve has devoted the majority of his career to Metroline, commencing in 1986 as a bus driver under the then London Transport Corporation, progressing into his current role. Throughout his time with the business, he has made a significant contribution to our operations and to the wider bus industry. His extensive knowledge, experience and commitment have helped shape Metroline and supported colleagues across the organisation, including numerous colleagues at Transport for London and colleagues from the various trade unions he has interacted with.
On behalf of everyone at Metroline I would like to thank Steve for his dedication, leadership and many years of service. We fully support his decision to focus on his family as he begins this next chapter, and we wish him every happiness as he prepares for a well-earned retirement.
Area Operations Director Nick Faichney will be stepping up as Interim Chief Operating Officer while recruitment to the Chief Operating Officer role takes place.
