Job Description
Reporting to the General Manager with responsibility for site transport management teams.
The National Transport Manager is a key part of the contract senior team, working with them to drive the contract forward.
As National Transport Manager you are responsible for the strategic planning and implementation of a multi-site national transport operation, ensuring that synergies, efficiencies, savings and improvements are identified and acted upon.
Ensuring that the national transport manager activities are managed effectively, that they meet the customer service level criteria at all time whilst operating within agreed financial parameters.
Providing close management of all costs and KPI's of the transport operation, identifying variances and taking appropriate corrective action.
Adopting a proactive approach to the role, ensuring ongoing excellence in day-to-day operations.
Liaising with customer representatives at a senior level, ensuring productive relationships with the client, as well as colleagues and external suppliers and contacts.
Responsible for ensuring that all operations consistently meet legal requirements in respect of transport, employment, and Health and Safety legislation, constantly striving to improve Health and Safety within the operations.
Travel on a national basis is required for the role

The Successful Applicant
Extensive transport management experience at a senior level in a service driven multi-site operation.
Be able to demonstrate an ability to manage effectively in a national operation and its associated strategic complexities.
Highly developed people management skills, able to demonstrate skills in performance management and motivation of colleagues.
A focused team player with the ability to work successfully in a variety of teams within a matrix operation.
Must have the energy and enthusiasm required to operate in a complex national operation.
Able to establish and maintain good communications with customer representatives at all levels, colleagues and external contacts.
Must be financially aware and have experience of budgetary control procedures.
Be able to demonstrate high level employee relations experience in a unionised environment.
Must hold an International CPC.
