Why join?

Are you an experienced professional? Becoming a Chartered Member ensures that your experience and knowledge as a professional is recognised by employers and society at large. Chartered Membership demonstrates that you have achieved the Institute's globally recognised Chartered standard. Members who join at this grade are entitled to use the CMILT post-nominals on CVs, signatures and other business stationery and can access the full range of benefits offered by the Institute. This includes access to our Careers Service and Knowledge Centre, Europe's largest collection of logistics and transport resources. You will also receive a printed copy of our highly regarded magazine Logistics & Transport Focus every month. Chartered Members are encourages to engage with our regional specific Member Groups and Forums to build their professional networks.


Who can apply?

You can apply for this grade directly, or join at a lower grade and work your way up once you meet the criteria.


Application criteria

There are three pathways to this grade of membership:


  • An accredited degree AND at least four years experience in the profession (including two years at senior level), OR
  • The relevant Level 6 qualification or the CILT Advanced Diploma AND at least five years in the profession (including two years at senior level), OR
  • A non-relevant degree and at least seven years experience in the profession (including two years at senior level).

Professional entry

If you do not hold any formal qualifications, you must have at least seven years relevant work experience including a minimum of two years at a senior level.


How much does it cost?

Membership rates are kept to affordable levels by the CILT Board - please view our current fees.

There are specific routes to this grade of membership for members of the Armed Forces.

All members are bound by our Code of Professional Conduct.
