Becoming a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT UK) in 2019 marked a defining milestone in my career, formalising my commitment to professionalism in a discipline that is critical to the efficient functioning of society.

From early in my career, I was drawn to the complexity and importance of logistics and supply chain management. Over time, my role evolved into managing suppliers and contracts within safety-critical environments, where decisions must balance operational delivery with governance and compliance. In these moments, professionalism is demonstrated through accountability, structured thinking, and sound judgment.

One of the most impactful experiences in my career involved addressing supplier performance challenges that posed a risk to service delivery. Navigating this required a disciplined, evidence-based approach—engaging stakeholders, reinforcing contractual responsibilities, and restoring operational stability.

It was a strong reminder that the value of our profession often lies in preventing disruption and ensuring continuity.

CILT(UK) has been fundamental in shaping my approach. Through structured learning, including the International Advanced Diploma in Logistics and Transport, I developed a deeper understanding of the principles that underpin effective logistics management—governance, resilience, and continuous improvement.

As the profession continues to evolve, driven by digitalization, sustainability, and increasing complexity, the need for skilled and ethical professionals remains paramount.

Looking ahead, I believe the future will require leaders who can integrate innovation with strong professional standards.

As CILT(UK) celebrates 100 years of its Charter, I am proud to be part of a profession defined by expertise, integrity, and lasting impact.
