Shaista Kanwal CMILT
Senior Regional Marketing Data Analyst, Turkish Airlines
Becoming a Chartered Member of CILT has been a milestone that sits at the intersection of 19 years of operational experience and a commitment to evidence-based thinking in logistics.
Shaista's Story...
I began my career in air cargo — with Singapore Airlines, DHL Global Forwarding, and DB Schenker — before joining Turkish Airlines Cargo as Senior Regional Marketing Data Analyst for the MEASA region. Across those years, I learned that the most complex decisions in freight — network optimisation, commodity mix strategy, geopolitical disruption response — are rarely made with the analytical rigour they deserve. That gap is what drives my research. I recently filed a provisional patent for an AI-powered cargo risk and safety platform, and I have six academic papers under journal review covering pharmaceutical cold chain, live animal welfare, dangerous goods compliance, and trade law. The CMILT designation reinforces that this work is grounded not just in theory, but in lived operational reality. Adding those nominals matters. They reinforce that logistics is a profession — and that the people shaping its future deserve the credentials to prove it.
