Speaker: Jim Thomson, Brodie Engineering business development director

Founded thirty years ago and now the only such business in Scotland, Brodie Engineering is today a major force in the rail refurbishment sector, having expanded from its original Bonnyton premises to take on from Wabtec also the Caledonia Works which was previously the home of Hunslet Barclay. It offers a comprehensive range of refurbishment, maintenance, overhaul, engineering support, project management and repair services to the UK rail and light rail sector. In recognition of the excellent fit between the two businesses, rolling stock leasing company Porterbrook two years ago took a 49% stake in Brodie Engineering, leaving the team there to run its day-to-day operations which now employ 150 people.
