The latest Your Bus Journey survey results have revealed that Nottingham City Transport (NCT) is the best bus operator in England based on passenger satisfaction.
The independent bus passenger satisfaction survey gives detailed passenger feedback on 48,000 journeys across England, Scotland and Wales in 2025. It provides a benchmark of passenger satisfaction including punctuality of the service, value for money and journey times.
Nottingham came on top in two counts, with the City Council owned NCT ranked as the top operator in England with a 94% customer satisfaction and Greater Nottingham coming joint first with Warwickshire on area satisfaction at 93%, up 3% from last year. Nottingham was closely followed by Reading and Portsmouth at 92%, and North East Lincolnshire and Derbyshire at 90% satisfaction by area. NCT was closely followed by Stagecoach in Warwickshire at 93% satisfaction by operator.

As well as being considered the best operator in Great Britain, Nottingham City has also recently been recognised in the following areas for transport:
The Department for Transport statistics 2025 showed that Nottingham has the second highest bus usage outside of London
Nottingham City Transport’s Managing Director, David Astill, was awarded an MBE in the New Years Honours List for services to public transport
NCT driver, Zohra Rani, was named top national bus driver at the UK Bus Awards 2025
A £4.5 million funding boost by the East Midlands Combined Authority has recently allowed Nottingham City Transport to order 19 new electric double-decker buses which plan to be in action later this year.
Overall, the Your Bus Journey survey 2025 revealed that journey times and passenger opinions on bus drivers had remained the same as the previous year, with increases in satisfaction for punctuality, waiting times and bus stop conditions – but a 10% decrease in passenger satisfaction for value for money.
