Criteria and Guidance for Nomination
The Sir Robert Lawrence Award is the highest individual honour presented at our annual Awards Evening. It recognises exceptional, sustained contribution to the profession of logistics. First presented in 1986, it was donated to the Institute of Logistics and Distribution Management, a predecessor of our current Institute, by the National Freight Consortium.
This lifetime achievement award celebrates individuals whose work has had a profound, enduring impact on the sector, and who have elevated the status and visibility of the profession on a national scale.

Purpose of the Award
To acknowledge and celebrate an individual who has:
Made a major contribution to the logistics and transport profession over a sustained period.
Played a significant role in raising the status, profile, or recognition of the profession.
Gained a reputation that is widely recognised nationally within the sector.
This is not an award for service to the Institute and is not restricted to members of the Institute.
Eligibility Criteria
Nominees should:
Have a long-standing career of notable influence in logistics and/or transport.
Be widely recognised within the profession in the UK or internationally for their contributions.
Have a track record of innovation, leadership, influence, or thought leadership that has advanced the profession.
Not be nominated solely on the basis of voluntary service or contribution to the Institute itself.
Nomination Process
Nominations may be submitted by any individual or organisation, including Institute members and external parties.
Each nomination must include:
A detailed citation outlining the nominee’s career, achievements, and impact.
A summary of how the nominee meets the criteria outlined above.
Any relevant supporting documentation (e.g., published works, awards, media recognition, leadership roles.
