These Terms and Conditions govern use of the CILT(UK) website, member areas, events, courses, qualifications, and learning services.

About These Terms

These terms set out the rules that apply to use of the CILT(UK) website and any member or subscriber areas (together, the "Site"), as well as the provision of events, courses, learning services, and qualifications.

By using the Site or engaging with CILT(UK) services, users agree to be bound by these terms. If they do not agree, they must not use the Site or engage with our services.

CILT(UK) is the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (UK). We are a company limited by guarantee (registration number 2629347) and a registered charity in England and Wales (1004963).

Changes to These Terms and to the Site

CILT(UK) may update the Site and these terms from time to time. The date of the last update will be shown at the top of this document.

Continued use of the Site or engagement with our services after changes means the user accepts the updated terms.

Accessing the Site

Access to the Site is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis.

CILT(UK) reserves the right to suspend, withdraw, or restrict access to the Site for business and operational reasons, including maintenance, or if we reasonably believe you have failed to comply with these terms.

Account Registration and Security

Where applicable, users may be required to create an account to access certain services. You must:

  • Provide accurate and complete information when registering

  • Keep your login details confidential

  • Not share your credentials with any other person

  • Notify us immediately of any unauthorised use of your account

CILT(UK) reserves the right to disable any account at any time if we reasonably believe you have failed to comply with these terms.

Acceptable Use

You must not:

  • Misuse the Site (including introducing viruses or other harmful material)

  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Site, the server on which it is stored, or any connected system

  • Use the Site in any way that is unlawful, fraudulent, or infringes the rights of others

  • Use the Site to send unsolicited or unauthorised advertising or promotional material (spam)

  • Reproduce, modify, or redistribute content without permission

The Site shall only be used for lawful purposes.

Intellectual Property

All content on the Site (including text, images, logos, and trademarks) is owned by or licensed to CILT(UK) and is protected by intellectual property laws.

Users may view, print, and download content for personal, non-commercial use only. Unless expressly permitted, copyrighted or proprietary material must not be reproduced or exploited in any way. Use of trademarks and similar authorised marks is strictly prohibited.

Reliance on Information

Content on the Site is provided for general information only and is not intended as professional or legal advice.

CILT(UK) does not warrant in any manner any materials available either directly or indirectly through this site. Whilst CILT(UK) uses reasonable precautions to ensure materials are free from incorrect, defamatory, offensive, or other harmful content (including but not limited to viruses), we do not guarantee the exclusion of such in any way.

Users are encouraged to seek professional advice before acting on information obtained from the Site.

Limitation of Liability

CILT(UK) shall not, under any circumstances, be liable for any damages howsoever caused arising directly or indirectly from this Site (or its use).

In particular, CILT(UK) excludes liability for:

  • Business losses and loss of profit, revenue, goodwill, or data

  • Events outside our reasonable control

  • Damages resulting to you or any third party from use of the Site

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded under English law.

Uploading Content to the Site

Where the Site allows user-generated content (for example, forums, comments, profiles):

  • Users must only upload permitted content

  • CILT(UK) grants a licence to use, store, copy, and distribute that content and to make it available to third parties

  • CILT(UK) reserves the right to remove any content that does not comply with these terms

Linked Sites and Third-Party Resources

Linked sites maintained by CILT(UK) or its agents shall be subject to these terms of use.

CILT(UK) has no responsibility for, nor does it guarantee secure use for, linked sites it does not maintain. Such links do not imply endorsement or otherwise of such sites or the goods, services, or material they offer or contain.

Any links from the Site to other websites are provided for information only and CILT(UK) has no control over, and assumes no responsibility for, their content or resources.

Linking to the Site

Others may link to the Site in a way that is fair and legal and does not damage CILT(UK)'s reputation or take advantage of it.

Framing the Site on any other site without prior written consent is prohibited.

Data Protection and Privacy

CILT(UK) is committed to protecting your privacy and developing technology that gives you the most powerful and safe online experience.

CILT(UK) has updated its Privacy Policy in line with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) (EU) 2016/679. Our privacy policy details the data that we collect to maintain a Learner's qualification(s), training and membership status, how we keep it secure, and how we will use it to keep the Learner/Member informed about essential membership benefits.

Details will be held on a database in accordance with GDPR. Information will be used for internal marketing purposes only and will not be shared with any external organisations. If you do not wish to be contacted regarding membership opportunities, please email regions@ciltuk.org.uk

Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These terms, their subject matter, and formation are governed by the law of England and Wales.

The courts of England and Wales shall have exclusive jurisdiction.

Membership Terms and Conditions

Membership – Eligibility and Applications

Membership of CILT(UK) is open to individuals who meet the relevant entry criteria for the grade applied for.

By submitting a membership application, you confirm that the information provided is correct and that you have provided sufficient information within your job role(s) for your application to be assessed.

You agree to observe the CILT(UK) Code of Professional Conduct, Royal Charter, Articles of Association and Bye-Laws of the Institute, as amended from time to time.

CILT(UK) reserves the right to accept or decline membership applications at its sole discretion.

Membership – Use of Designatory Letters

On admission to membership, you may use the appropriate post-nominal letters corresponding to your membership grade, in accordance with CILT(UK) rules.

If you cancel your membership of the Institute, or your membership lapses or is terminated, you must immediately cease using any post-nominal letters and any description implying current membership

Membership – Fees, Renewals and Refunds

Membership subscriptions are payable in advance and are normally due on joining and on each renewal date notified to you.

If you cancel your membership subscription within 14 calendar days of CILT(UK) receiving your payment, CILT(UK) is able to issue a full refund via your original payment method. After this 14-day period no refund (partial or otherwise) will be granted.

Failure to pay the membership subscription when due may result in suspension or termination of membership.

 

Member Obligations and Professional Development

As a member of CILT(UK), you confirm that you will continue to develop yourself and your career and will actively participate in the advancement of the supply chain, logistics and transport sectors.

You agree to undertake regular professional development aligned to the CILT(UK) Competency Framework and to provide evidence of such development if requested.

Contact and Data Use

CILT(UK) will use your contact details to administer your membership and to provide you with information about membership benefits, services and relevant opportunities, in accordance with our Privacy Policy and Data Protection statement.

You may update your communication preferences or opt out of certain types of communication at any time using the channels specified in our Privacy Policy.

Events

Registration and Booking

Delegates may request a delegate substitution in place of a booking cancellation.

You can edit the name on your ticket and send confirmation to the new attendee by logging into your Eventbrite account.

Please note that any printed material may not be able to be changed.

Member Eligibility

If you book as a member with an incorrect membership number, we have the right to cancel your event booking and you will be invited to book on as a non-member.

If you are not a current Member of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport, please be aware our membership team may be in touch with you using your email address provided regards membership opportunities. If you do not wish to be contacted please email regions@ciltuk.org.uk

Cancellation Policy

Cancellation notices received within 4 weeks or more prior to the date of the event will be refunded in full. Cancellation notices received after this will be subject to full payment.

Learning Centre and Qualifications

Enrolment onto CILT(UK) Qualifications

Learners submitting a completed enrolment form are entering into a contract with The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (UK) Learning Centre.

The process of enrolment will be started upon receipt of the enrolment form, Learner Agreement, and ID. However, this process will not be completed until payment has been received in full (where payment is being made by an individual).

Learning Centre – Payment Terms

Individual Payment:

Payment must be made in full by an individual before the enrolment process will be completed. Learning materials will not be ordered or sent until payment has been received in full.

Invoicing a Company:

Where invoices are raised against a company account, CILT(UK) requires the learner to supply:

  • The correct billing address

  • Contact email address

  • Phone number

Companies operating a purchase order system will need to raise a PO number, which should be included on the enrolment form in the section provided, with a copy of the PO sent with the enrolment form.

CILT(UK) reserves the right to refuse instructions to invoice a company where the company in question is not recognised following a company search.

Invoices without a hard copy of the purchase order will have to be paid in full before the enrolment process is completed and materials ordered.

 Payment Terms:

CILT(UK)'s payment terms are 30 days. Costs may be applied for payment requested or received outside of these payment terms.

All fees paid are non-refundable.

Examination Requirements

Examinations are now available through an online proctoring service, which will involve a fee payable per examination. This fee is payable at the time of applying to be entered into the series.

It is the Learner's responsibility to ensure that when sitting an online examination, their system is compatible with the online proctoring requirements as detailed in this form.

Paper-based examinations must be held within the workplace. Approval for the venue and invigilator must be sought from the CILT(UK) Learning Centre prior to submitting the examination entry form.

All learners must adhere to the CILT(UK) Awarding Organisation Examination Guidelines. It is the learner's responsibility to read through the information and raise any queries or concerns with the CILT(UK) Learning Centre.

Re-sit and Re-submission

Where a Learner fails a unit assessment, Learners will be advised on the next assessment window they can re-submit.

An entry form needs to be requested from CILT(UK) Learning Centre and then returned completed with all fees due to be entered. A learner will not be entered into the next exam series until payment has been received in full.

CILT(UK) Learning Centre will provide a re-entry form to be completed and returned with the re-submission fees paid within 14 days before submission. Should payment not be made by the agreed date, a Learner will not be entered into the assessment series.

APICS

APICS Short Course – Payment

Individual Payment:

 Course participants will not be able to attend their specified course until payment has been received in full (where payment is being made by an individual).

  • Contact email address

  • Phone number to CILT(UK)

 CILT(UK)'s payment terms are 30 days. Costs may be applied for payment requested or received outside of these payment terms.

Cancellation Policy

Six to three weeks before the course starts:

A cancellation fee of 25% will be charged on all cancellations between six and three weeks before the course. Thereafter, the full fee will be charged.

CILT(UK) reserves the right to cancel courses or amend course dates.

Within three weeks of the course start date:

Cancellations made within 2 weeks before the first day of the event, or if the participant fails to attend, the full fee remains. All cancellations should be confirmed in writing before the event.

APICS Self-Study and Distance Learning

If you are studying an APICS certification through self-study/distance learning, please be aware that the CILT(UK) Distance Learning Centre is not affiliated with your study. You will therefore NOT receive a Distance Learning Advisor.

Membership Requirements

Anyone taking part in APICS certifications will need joint Membership of CILT(UK) and APICS. This will give participants the same access tO CILT(UK) member benefits as those of a CILT(UK) e-Member. This is generally included in the costs at purchase.

Examination Process

CILT(UK) is not involved with the examination process for APICS exams.

If agreed at purchase, CILT(UK) will purchase the Authorisation to Test (ATT)/Exam Credit (EC) for learners. CILT(UK)'s responsibility to the exam process ends at this point.

The learner is responsible for booking their exam through Pearson Vue.

In-House and Bespoke Courses

Terms and conditions for both in-house courses and bespoke courses will be specified at proposal stage.
