Environment & Sustainability Forum

Chair: Geoff Clarke FCILT

Environmental sustainability is an increasingly critical issue for businesses, worldwide...and therefore for transport and logistics professionals.

Our chosen definition: Sustainability = enough, for all, for ever

  • Issues include resource availability risks and ecosystem degradation
  • New, sustainable business models present supply chain challenges
  • Transport is a key energy user and pollution contributor
  • Congestion and modal shift present UK infrastructure challenges
  • Climate change (and whether caused by humanity) is still hotly debated

The Forum's purpose is to support awareness of the critical importance of environmental sustainability, and position  CILT as a key provider of reliable and thought-provoking information:-

  • Promote new thinking and research
  • Share best practice
  • Highlight regulatory issues
  • Encourage debate
  • Link to Subject Matter Experts in business, government, academic and NGO organisations.

Phd Research - Responses Required

 2 Surveys

Survey 1

I am reaching out to seek your valuable insights for my ongoing PhD research at Glasgow Caledonian University, Scotland, UK.

My study focuses on managing social sustainability risks in global supply chains, a critical yet often overlooked area in sustainability practices. The research is conducted in two parts: this survey marks the first part, and the second part will involve a case study. Participation is entirely voluntary for both parts.

The survey takes approximately 20 minutes, and your input would be invaluable in helping to advance knowledge and best practices in this field. As a small thank-you, participants can opt into a prize draw for gift vouchers.

Your insights will help shape future strategies to make supply chains more socially sustainable. I would be deeply grateful for your support and expertise in this important research.

Please feel free to share this survey with sustainability experts within your organisation or among your professional network who might also be interested in contributing.
If you have any questions or need further information, do not hesitate to reach out.
Thank you very much in advance for your time and support!

Kind regards

Siju Markose
PhD Candidate

Survey 2

Dear Sir or Madam,

Hope you are well. We are writing to ask your participation in a survey-based study about Multi-stakeholder Collaboration for Net Zero, which is funded by the British Academy (Project code: SRG23\231185).

This survey seeks to understand the challenges of collaboration that involve multiple stakeholders for Net Zero policy agenda.  We want to hear from you while we are developing the framework for policy advise.

The survey should take less than 8 minutes to complete. Your feedback helps us to develop findings that support regional and national collaboration and governance mechanisms for Net Zero.
