Brexit Transition – Focus on Northern Ireland Protocol
Start Date:10 Mar 2021
End Date:10 Mar 2021
Event Code:RLF0329
Description:

When: 10 March 2021, 14:00 - 15:30 Hours
Where: Zoom Webinar

Speakers/Panelists:

  • Seamus Leheny CMILT, Policy Manager - Northern Ireland, Logistics UK
  • Nick McCullough CMILT, Managing Director, DFDS
  • Speaker from the Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs (DAERA)

The application of the Northern Ireland Protocol has been a particularly difficult process. The challenge has been to ensure the range and quantities of food and drink as well as other consumer products remain available for Northern Ireland residents as they had been before the TCA, whilst recognising that EU legislation, which now applies to products originating from or manufactured in GB, does not allow that to happen. Speakers from the Northern Ireland Government, Ferry services and UK suppliers, manufacturers and distributors will discuss the current obstacles and seek solutions as we move through Stages 2 and 3 of the Transition process in April and July 2021

Stage 2 of the Trade and Co-operation  Agreement (TCA) approaches on the 1st April, and the Northern Ireland Protocol has already shown significant threats and challenges to the daily lives of the NI population and to businesses moving goods into and out of Northern Ireland. CILT UK members should not miss this important webinar which brings together Government Department and industry contributors to review the food and consumer supply chain issues and disruption  generated by the Protocol and to discuss solutions to enable Northern Ireland supply chains to return to previous volumes and service quality standards.
